The school website I visited was my old high school page, miamikillianhs.com. On the website, you can publicly see information such as announcements and events, school policies, academy pages, homework sections, and testing calendars. On the class pages, you can see different links and documents that are required to review or complete by students in the particular class. There are also pages for students to explore and review class topics and lessons. http://miamikillianhs.com/apps/classes/show_class.jsp?classREC_ID=653149        I envision myself accomplishing professional responsibilities by taking part in conferences and classes that will help me develop as an educator. Through the use of technology I will be able to connect with geographically diverse educators and learn more through their techniques and teaching methods. I will learn how to implement technology into my classroom properly and collaborate with other teachers via technology. ...

The purpose of the infographic that I created is to engage young elementary students in being kind and supportive to their classmates and teachers. This motivational poster can be used in all classrooms in the elementary school to inspire students to be better. It is important that students know the educational steps of growth to happiness so that they are able to want to do better in school.

Assignment 3: Website Evalutation

I researched websites for a high school social studies classroom. The first website I found, iCivics, is an interactive website for both teachers and students. As a high school social studies teacher, I think the website will be useful and relevant for my classroom because it includes games for students that follow the curriculum taught in class. It will also be a helpful website because it includes resources in the Spanish language and free guides. The website is up to date and in check with civic engagement occurring in the world today. The accuracy of the website concerns me a bit only because there is no specific author with an educational background in civics/ social studies. However, the information provided in the website seems to be accurate. The purpose of the website connects to my subject area as the website is meant to help engage students into civics beyond the classroom. https://www.icivics.org/teachers The second website I found, Big History Project, is an online...

Some Web 2.0 tools that will be helpful in my classroom include blogs and YouTube. Blogs may assist in engaging students to be more creative in their writing and encourage students to start discussions on their lessons and activities. Blogs may also help teacher professional development for discussions and collaboration on topics. YouTube may assist teachers on relaying information to students through visuals and interesting videos.      An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I would use in my classroom is Twitter. Students will be able to learn how to practice proper social media by interacting with their peers and the twitter world. Post class discussions may be conducted on twitter, which will create an environment of collaboration for students in a more exciting approach. However, there are no restrictions on twitter, which may create issues if students post inappropriate tweets.  Link:  https://twitter.com/  The technology advancement that ...

My early course experience with twitter has been interesting to say the least, because of the variety of tweets I see on my timeline. I follow multiple educational leaders, official FSU accounts, and public education accounts. Lately, I have been liking tweets by the Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. His tweets are beneficial because he often discusses the implementation of new technologies in k-12 public schools. Twitter may be helpful in my future career by keeping me updated on new technological advancements and education updates across the globe.      Digital divide affects the success of students in school because of the lack of access to technology for some students. Unfortunately, not every student has the opportunity to gain access to the internet or a computer and therefore do not have the same advantage as students who do have daily access. Digital divide occurs because some students are low income and/or live in rural ar...

As an educator, it is important that I include ELA technology standards into my curriculum. As a high school social studies teacher, I will feel most prepared to instruct students how to interpret charts, graphs, photographs, videos, maps, and research data, as described in the RHST.7 "Multimedia:" History/Social Studies standard. It is an essential aspect of social sciences to be able to analyze different forms of media and use the media to learn more about a particular subject or lesson. A standard that will require more learning on my part would be the SL.5 "Use Digital Media" because I am not too familiar with the strategic use of digital media. Once I become more comfortable with using different software, I will be able to successfully use that standard.                              Technology software and applications that I will like to implement in...
