My early course experience with twitter has been interesting to say the least, because of the variety of tweets I see on my timeline. I follow multiple educational leaders, official FSU accounts, and public education accounts. Lately, I have been liking tweets by the Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. His tweets are beneficial because he often discusses the implementation of new technologies in k-12 public schools. Twitter may be helpful in my future career by keeping me updated on new technological advancements and education updates across the globe.
Digital divide affects the success of students in school because of the lack of access to technology for some students. Unfortunately, not every student has the opportunity to gain access to the internet or a computer and therefore do not have the same advantage as students who do have daily access. Digital divide occurs because some students are low income and/or live in rural areas. As a classroom teacher, I may experience digital divide. In order to give a fair chance for success to every student, I will make sure that all assignments that use technology will be used in the classroom or computer lab at school. I will also make sure that students will be able to have access to the internet/computer at school via the computer labs as needed.
Student software that I expect to use include Kahoot and Socrative. Both of these applications interact with students by asking for responses from students. Kahoot is a quiz based software that will help students study and remember information taught in class. Socrative is more a poll for students, used to spark conversation on topics and feedback. These applications will be useful as I will be teaching high school social studies. Students will need to remember important information and discuss in groups, and both of the software will help in the process.

ReplyDeleteI think the fair chance for success is very important but also very challenging. Sometimes, there are restriction in technology or we are facing students with various abilities. It is also very important to help students to develop the digital literacy instead of simply using the technologies.
